From Arts to Intelligence

Kjersti was no stranger to the stage or screen in any part of the world during her career as a professional dancer/aerialist. She saw the world as a stage where global issues played out in front of her.  She understood how the arts could be used to bridge cultural divides, communicate important messages, and foster understanding among people from different backgrounds.

Through her work in the arts, Kjersti realized its power to transcend borders and break down barriers. It was this unconventional perspective that drove Kjersti to pursue a career in intelligence and security studies, where she saw an opportunity to contribute to international peace and security with a unique perspective.

Art & Cultural diplomacy

The U.S. State Department’s Arts in Embassies (AIE) program is a cultural diplomacy initiative that promotes cross-cultural understanding and collaboration through the visual and performing arts.  The AIE program selects and exhibits contemporary and traditional works of art in U.S. embassies and consulates overseas. It also sponsors cultural exchange programs, performances, workshops, and other events to bring American and international artists and audiences together. By engaging with local communities through the arts, the AIE program aims to build bridges and promote positive relations between people of different cultures and nations.
